It’s the Meebits’ 2nd birthday, and they’re growing up fast – seems like just yesterday they were showing off their first T-pose. 🤗
Truly 3D from the start, Meebits are built to be metaverse-ready – and today, they’re making some big new moves (literally) toward the future with Living PFPs, Moods, and a new look for the marketplaces.
Introducing Living PFPs!
Bring your Meebit to life in a new way. Unlike static profile pictures (PFPs), Living PFPs allow you to customize your PFP to tell richer stories and express yourself. A Living PFP reflects the selections that its holder makes, without changes to metadata. (This is distinct from a dynamic NFT, which evolves with changes in the metadata.)
With MB1.2, we’re excited to introduce the first expression of Living PFPs — Moods.
Meebits Moods are the Meebits in action.
Visit turnon.meebits.app and connect your wallet to see your Meebits express themselves through these initial moods:
- !MEEBIN
- SHY
- SWOON
- GM
- NOPE
- CHILL
- SPICY
- GN
- HEATED
- ZOOMIN
- DAZED
- DED
- HYPE
You can flip through different moods, save one, and use the camera icon to capture a PNG or GIF to share. If you don’t have your own Meebit, you can play with one of Yuga’s.
New render, who dis?
While you’re playing around with Moods, you may notice Meebits have gotten a bit of a glow-up. In MB1.1, we introduced a new render style of the original Meebits 3D voxel artwork and provided them as free-to-claim art prints to holders. (You can still download the digital image of your art print at MB1.1.)
Today, the Meebits’ new render style is going full-body. The updated token metadata makes these images the primary token thumbnails. Going forward, this is an example of what you will see for Meebits on all marketplaces.

On OpenSea, Rarible, and other marketplaces with HTML-enabled viewers, you’ll be able to switch between this 2D full-body render and the interactive 3D webGL viewer that displays your Meebits’ Mood. Previously, the Meebits token metadata only pointed to one static image, the original render. This render is still part of the metadata, but it’s just one way to display the underlying 3D voxel model, which is the core artwork associated with the Meebit NFT.
VRM files and the pixel sprite sheets are now in the metadata.
With these assets linked directly to the NFT metadata, virtual worlds and games are able to more easily integrate Meebits, allowing holders to play with them via gasless signatures. (Thank you to the MeebitsDAO for originally creating these assets!)
Meebits are your avatars for the Metaverse.
Meebits are reducing the barriers to interoperability, exploring new virtual worlds, and giving creators tools to express their creativity. MB1.2 is just one more step in that direction — can’t wait to share what’s next.
